To the Gwaltney and Miller families:

I briefly met Kim in Novmeber while with my daughter Michelle Hastings at the Undy 5000. I remember thinking how beautiful she was and how awful that women like our daughters had to face this terrible disease. I will wear an extra blue ribbon at this year's walk in her memory. Our family's thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have been following Kim's blog for some time now. I think I've only commented a few times. Because of Kim I went to the doctor and had a colonscopy because I was having some weird symptoms. I was just going to let it go and consider it nothing, but then I came across her blog and realized that those symptoms weren't going to go away and to do something about it. I went to a few doctors, had the colonscopy and walked away with a very good outcome and much more educated. I will forever be grateful to her for sharing her story. My family's thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh my sweet Kimmie.......I wish I could see how beautiful you look in your white angel gown in heaven right now. Words can't express how sad we all are right now, but at the same time, how thankful we are that you are finally in peace and don't have colon cancer anymore. You always said you were going to beat this........well, you did Kimmie! You did! You are now cancer free and a beautiful angel where your Father in Heaven needs you most. Oh how we all love you and will miss you until we see you again on the other side! Much love....

I was very saddened to hear about Kim's passing. I met Kim at Banner Estrella while she was admitted to the ICU. She was my patient... an unforgettable one at that. Her presence was indescribable. Although she was ill, she carried a refreshing glow. While I know that words are only a small gesture of support, I want you to know that her spirit has touched many people's lives as it has mine. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart is so sad. I just can't wrap my mind around this. I cannot imagine how your family is feeling. Your faith kept you so strong throughout all your burdens. I now believe that God is continuing to answer your prayers and that they will ring in His ears for years as He watches over your family, with you by His side. I know you had told me you wanted to beat this because you had so much to do in this life. In your short time you have inspired and touched so many people. You have accomplished more than most people can even hope to. Your positive attitude throughout all this is something I hope I can learn from and carry throughout my life. In honor of you Kim.

Thinking of you tonight. Kim's an amazing woman. Though short, Kim's life was extremely full. She has touched so many people's lives with this experience and attitude that not many would have. Still amazed by her incredible bravery, strength, inspiration, and love for life. What a positive example to all of us. Everyone who met her, couldn't help but love her. I will truly miss her, but I know that she is finally well. What a fight...what a woman!

Kim was such a tremendous person! A vibrantly bright candle that ushered in the light of faith, hope and healing in an otherwise bleak world. A candle that has forever left us all changed for that passion, that zest for life which utterly enriched us all. Kim served as an inspiration to us all of dignity, living life, love, faith and charity. Our family will never forget her and the example that her legacy leaves behind.

Deron, our family will forever be here for you, just as you have always been here for us over the course of time. I am so proud and honored to call you my warrior-brother! So proud of you and your beautiful family.

My prayers continue to go out toward the Miller family and all of you. May God keep you in His loving embrace, until all are one.

My heart aches at the passing of Kim, but my soul rejoices that she is pain free and at peace. I met Kim when she was at patient at BEMC in the ICU and began to follow her blog after she kept telling all of us nurses that we had to! It was at that time that I realized that Kim Miller the patient was actually Kim Gwaltney who I had heard so much about from my husband Desmond who went to highschool with her. I want you to know her will and determination to beat this and her glory to God even in her darkest moments have been an inspiration to me and made me realize what is really important in life. I admire her for her strength as a wife and mother to fight this and in the end Kim you still won. Thank you Kim, and all of her friends and family, for allowing us to share in your struggles and successes throughout this journey. My prayers are with all of you in this difficult time.

With love,
Kim Branston and family

Dear Gwaltney & Miller Families,

Our deepest condolences to you and your extended family & friends. Kim was a blessing & gift to all who knew her. Kim carried the light of Christ with her throughout her life. Although her candle burned out too early, she will continue to be a light to others. We count ourselves blessed to have known her as a friend, co-worker & neighbor. You will all be in our thoughts & prayers now & always. May God bless you, guide you & keep you in his care & grant you his peace & love to strengthen you during this difficult time. I used to tease her about people always asking if she was a "movie star" since she always had an entourage wherever she went. She is now an angel star lighting up heaven with her smile. Our love & blessings to you. Please let us know if you need anything at all. Daron call whenever you need anything. We will cherish her.
Love & Blessings,
Gloria, Patrick & Katharine Lee

Deron, Nan and all Kim's friends and family,

I'm so thankful to have gotten to spend time with Kim and all of you and get to know you all. I know all of us here already miss Kim and all your faces. I loved coming to work and knowing that I'd get to see Kim and just maybe get a couple of her dirty looks that she liked to give to me cause I reminded her of her aunt Cathy. Again, I'm so sorry and thank you so much for sharing your and Kim's life with me. Please let me know if I can be of any help.

Much love,
Jessica

I am also 29 years old and also have two children and can't help but put myself in her shoes. Because of her I will be a better mother, wife, and friend everyday and know how very precious life is.
Just know that heaven is a shining much brighter with Kim there and someday you will all see her again that I am sure of!!

I started following Kim's blog before Christmas last year and I have checked it religiously since. Although, I met Deron once in passing, I've never did get to meet Kim. Her optimism always amazed me. My thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family at this time, especially the children. I'll continue to pray for the quick healing of their little hearts.
Remember:
When a child is born the heavens weep and the Earth rejoices. When one dies it is the Earth that weeps, yet the heavens rejoice.

Kim will be missed, but not forgotten.

I came across Kim's blog while searching for others who, like me, were battling colon cancer. We actually at one point were admitted at the same time to Banner Estrella. I found strength in myself through her strength. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and the children as you embark on a journey requiring strength, patience, and faith. Kim was an amazing woman who empowered each and everyone of us in the ICU at Banner Estrella. God is truly blessed to have Kim in his Kingdom, for he will feel her strength, her power, and her love and in return allow you to feel peace. I have seen remarkable things in my career that have allowed me to open my eyes to the power of God. God does not give us tragedy; however he gives us the strength to overcome them. He leads us onto our path with this strength, just as he will for you.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Kim last summer before her diagnosis and we hit it off. She was such a great person to talk to, beautiful and her smile lit the room. She spoke so proudly of her family. Her and I spoke only a few times after her diagnosis but I followed her journey on her blog. She had such strength and hope and she is encouraging to all that knew her. I hope you are able to find strength in the fond memories you have with her!
